It has been another busy year for the Pacific Cultures team. This year as part of Ngā Toi Arts Te Papa we opened Tīvaevae: Out of the Glory Box, Te Papa’s first exhibition of Cook Islands tīvaevae. We have also worked to have have more of our collection available online and in person through exhibitions such as Taku Ipukarea at Pataka Art + Museum in Porirua and Royal Hawaiian Feather Work: Nā Hulu Ali’i at the de Young Museum in San Francisco. So to wrap up the year we thought it would be fun to take a look at our year in numbers:
A major highlight of our year has been meeting and working with Pacific peoples across New Zealand and in the wider Pacific. We have also welcomed over 300 people into our Pacific Cultures Collection through Te Papa’s open day and our back of house tours. So here is our year in storeroom selfies:
Thank you to all our visitors and everyone who followed our travels and work through our blogs and Instagram posts. We appreciate your support and we look forward to bringing you more in 2016.
