Wendy Kaplan is Department Head and Curator, Decorative Arts and Design, at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). Wendy is a leading expert on late 19th to mid 20th-century design, and one of the co-curators of California Design, 1930–1965: Living in a Modern Way, which was recently on display at Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki.

Wendy will be in Wellington next week, and will be presenting two talks at Te Papa.

Wendy Kaplan discusses the impact of California’s artists, craftspeople, and designers on the products, furnishings, and houses of mid 20th-century America.

 

Prior to her lecture, Wendy will join Te Papa curator Justine Olsen in the exhibition  Ngā Toi І Arts Te Papa at 5.30pm to discuss the enduring influence of some of the icons of mid 20th-century Californian design.
