Have you heard the roars yet? We’ve had an overwhelming response to our visiting T.rex puppet Scotty!
We are really lucky that Scotty has been able to visit us to help promote our forthcoming exhibition, Tyrannosaurs – Meet the Family, which opens at Te Papa on September 27!
We’re hoping that many of you will get to meet Scotty when he’s out and about over the next week. Today he’s a little tired after a busy few days so is having a rest. He doesn’t like the rain much either, so we’re keeping an eye on the weather forecast before we decide exactly where he’ll go next.
Scotty has got his plane ticket booked and will be traveling back to Australia on September 22, but luckily before then we have some dates scheduled so you can plan your visit. Of course, you’ll also be able to come to Te Papa and discover lots more about the Tyrannosaur family in our extraordinary exhibition from September 27!
All appearances are weather-dependent and subject to change.

Hi Jim, thanks for your interest in Scotty. We were really lucky to have him visit for two weeks to help us promote Tyrannosaurs – Meet the Family. Unfortunately Scotty had his plane ticket booked and has now returned to Australia. He’s been in hot demand across the Tasman, but if you and your daughter would like to learn more about the Tyrannosaur family, you can check out some cool dinosaur facts here: http://www.tepapa.govt.nz/WhatsOn/tyrannosaurs/tyrannosaursspeciesmeetthefamily/Pages/TyrannosaursSpeciesMeettheFamily.aspx
Wish he was coming to Blenheim! Lots of little T Rex fans here…
has he his own Passport? Pity not coming to Aratoi at Masterton!
Hi Adele, thanks for your comment. Scotty’s always accompanied by a human handler so doesn’t need his own passport – but he is kept very comfortable on his way through quarantine! Thanks for your interest in Scotty – we’ll be working hard to share his experiences on our blog, Facebook and Twitter while he’s in New Zealand.
